What thickness of polycarbonate is best for a residential carport in India?+

For a standard residential carport with a steel or aluminium frame at 600 mm purlin spacing, 4 mm Coxwell Static is the most common specification. For longer spans (up to 1 m between purlins) or where greater rigidity is desired, 6 mm is recommended. In hail-prone areas, 6 mm or Multicell 10 mm provides additional impact resistance.

Will a polycarbonate carport get hot in Indian summer?+

Clear polycarbonate transmits infrared radiation (heat). For carports where heat under the canopy is a concern, specify Bronze tint (reduces solar energy transmission by 40–50%) or Solar Ice tint (reflects near-infrared while maintaining neutral daylight quality).

How long does a polycarbonate carport last?+

Coxwell Static Sheet carries a 10-year warranty against manufacturing defects, subject to standard terms. The UV protection is co-extruded — not coated — so it cannot peel.

Can polycarbonate carport panels be cut on site?+

Yes. Static Sheet and Multicell can be cut with a circular saw, jigsaw, or hand saw fitted with a fine-tooth blade. No specialist tools are required. Edges should be sealed with aluminium tape after cutting to prevent dust ingress into the panel channels.

Is polycarbonate approved for use in commercial carports and OEM dealerships?+
