Commercial building interior with harsh direct sunlight, glare, and hotspots on the floor
The problem

Most buildings are over-lit in the wrong places.

A lux number in a specification is not a daylight design. Lux measures quantity — it says nothing about glare, comfort, shadow patterns, or how a space feels at 2pm in May. Most daylighting specifications are written after the geometry is fixed, which means the material has to compensate for decisions made too late.

ECBC 2017 and LEED v4 both require daylighting performance documentation — sDA, ASE, and daylight autonomy metrics — that are now standard on commercial and institutional projects. Most design teams encounter these clauses at submission stage, not design stage.

We built this session to change that.

What we cover

Eight modules. Sixty minutes.

Content is tailored before every session based on your team's active project types — commercial, institutional, industrial, or public.

01Light: Architecture's Invisible Material

The physics behind daylighting decisions — why material choice changes the quality of every space.

02Common Pitfalls in Daylight Design

What goes wrong, and the design decisions that cause it — with real project examples.

03How LUX is Calculated

Why lux numbers alone don't protect you — and what metrics to specify instead.

04LEED sDA/ASE & ECBC Basics

The mandatory daylighting metrics, explained simply — with worked examples from Indian projects.

05Architectural Adaptation with Materials

How polycarbonate systems enable envelope designs that weren't achievable a decade ago.

06Polycarbonate: Properties & Applications

What every specifier needs to know — performance, ageing, UV resistance, fire classification.

07Future Materials & Sustainability

Recycled content, embodied carbon, circularity — what is available now, not in five years.

08Specification Walkthrough + Q&A

How to write Coxwell into a specification — and live questions from your team.
